A Summary of 2008

Isn't it funny how time flies when you are an adult, but as a child the days seem to drag on and on? This past year seemed to go by so quickly to me!! Here's a quick summary of my year:

My Uncle Chuck, who is only 46, had to have quadruple by-pass surgery. I have already lost 2 uncles due to heart problems, so we were all very nervous about the whole procedure. We knew the odds were better for him because my other uncles passed away years ago, and things are much improved, but still....Anytime you are dealing with the heart, you never know. With many answered prayers, he came through like the trooper he is. When I lived in Jonesboro, my uncle and I were VERY close. We shared a very special bond, and I don't know what I would've done if things had gone differently. I love you Uncle Chuckybaby!!! :)

This is the year that Hunter really got involved in sports. He has played t-ball for years, but this year, we moved him up (a year early) to coach's pitch baseball. For his age, I thought he did an awesome job! He also played his first year of Kiwanis football, which he loved! He was the quarterback, but he really liked to tackle. He is currently playing Upwards basketball, and will have his first game Saturday. 2008 also included Kindergarten graduation and starting 1st grade for my little man. (Where have the years gone?)

Hunter playing 2nd base.

Hunter playing QB.

Kindergarten graduation w/ Mrs. Norris.

Hayden is running around doing all the things that come with a two-year old. I LOVE this age, but boy, does it make me tired!! He makes me laugh on a daily basis!! We have conquered the bedtime battle. (For those of you that REALLY know me, know that I have made the mistake of letting my boys sleep with me for way too long.) Now, we have to get rid of the paci (HELP!!) and diapers. We are working on potty-training right now. (Please pray for me) He does not seem to want to potty for me. I don't know what to do!

Goofing off on the stairs.

Chris is currently on his 3rd year of coaching at Har-Ber. They had another fabulous season! They went 10-3, losing to Southside in the Semi-finals of the playoffs. This is only the 3rd year that Har-Ber has existed, so for them to get this far in only 3 years is phenomenal. (Last year, we lost in the Chamionship game.) We finally got a turf practice field on our campus this year, so we don't have to practice at Springdale High anymore. We do still have our games there though.

As for me, I am teaching my 4th year of 8th grade English at George Jr. High in Springdale. I really do enjoy teaching 8th graders, although it makes me very tired. I also lost about 30 pounds this year, so I enjoy shopping for clothes much more. I started playing softball and volleyball again with other teachers from my school. Oh, and we bought a new house. I LOVE my new house. It is very close to Har-Ber High School and Hunter's school, and makes it much more convenient for us, since we do spend a majority of our time at the field house anyway.

We have truly been blessed in 2008, and can't wait to see what 2009 has to offer. Hope you all have a wonderful year!!

aww...i love this post - and the family picture! You are such a good looking family! You must tell me how you won the bed time battle! We are currently in the midst of it - and I'm exhausted!

Great post. Your family is so cute! I need to know what you did to fix the bed time battle also. We are facing the same problem at our house right now with Peyton and it is wearing us out. We started to let him sleep with us during football because we were always out so late. That was something I always said I never would do. (Never say never, right.) But last week we started him back in his own room and it's not going well at all.

I'm sorry I'm just now replying, but I don't really have any advice for you. We were just lucky with Hayden. The very first night, I laid in the floor by his crib. He got up one time to make sure I was still there and then he went to sleep. From then on, as long as he "thought" I was lying in the floor, he was ok. We have a monitor with a camera, so I could look at my monitor screen and make sure he was asleep before I left the room. I didn't have the camera type with Hunter, so I would have to get up and look, and if he wasn't asleep, he would see me and we'd have to start all over. He's still a pain to get to bed.
