What Have We Been Up To?

I'm not sure that my life will ever be organized enough (or interesting enough) to be a regular blogger. It seems like most of my blog entries are summaries of what has happened over several weeks. Oh well! At least it's documented, right?

SO, WHAT HAVE WE BEEN UP TO LATELY?

FCA RAZORBACK GAMEDAY!

I am a sponsor for FCA at my school and we took a small group of kids to an FCA rally followed by a Razorback game. I think our group would've been larger, but it was on Halloween night. We had a good time anyway. One of these boys had never been to a game!

TRICK-OR-TREATING!!

We always go trick-or-treating with our friends, The Morelands, and their girls. Here they are leaving a house. This year, the boys went as GI Joe characters.

Hunter as Snake Eyes....

Hayden as Duke...

BUILDING FORTS!!!

Doesn't my living room look lovely? They're only young once, right? I have the rest of my life to clean!! They were so cute making them. Dad even got involved in their "creations!"

Hayden's fort...

Hunter's fort...

BUT, MOSTLY HAR-BER WILDCAT FOOTBALL!!!

Our record is currently 9-1! We are co-conference champs and were seeded #2 in the play-offs, so we got a bye the first round. We play Russellville, AR this Friday for round 2.

This is us praying with the other Springdale school after we played them week 4 this season. Their head coach has been battling lung and colon cancer, and had to sit this season out. So, after the game we came together as one town and prayed for their coach. It was an awesome moment!! Please pray for Coach Kevin Johnson! He is a great man and coach!

We had a bonfire the Tuesday before we played our last conference game against Bentonville. Can you see the boy holding up the stuffed Tiger? Can you guess what he is going to do with it?
My sweet boys posing at the bonfire.
This is our last conference game at Bentonville. There were so many people there!! This game was for the conference championship. Unfortunately, our offense decided NOT to show up and play this night, so we lost 17-0! We are still co-conference champs, but I wanted to be champs SO BAD!! UGH!!!
Hunter also had his first basketball game Saturday morning. Of course, when I start to take pictures my batteries are dead!! I will have more pictures next week of him playing Sonics basketball. They did win, though, so they are 1-0!

Arkansas Tech Homecoming

A couple weeks ago, I went to my college homecoming game! They were having an alumni volleyball game, so some of the girls I played ball with 11 YEARS AGO were coming home, and we'd get to play together again (including my roommate from Arizona)!!! We had so much fun reminiscing about the "good ole days!"
Here we are before the volleyball game. I really thought a lot more people would be there, but we were the oldest and we played against alumni that just graduated last year. Oh my goodness, we thought we were gonna get killed!!! Surprisingly, we played with these girls. However, they did beat us, but not bad!! I was very proud of us old ladies!! :)

We then went to eat at one of our favorite places, Stoby's!! They have the best cheese dip, and part of the restaurant is an actual train.

After that, we toured campus, drove all over Russellville to see how things have changed, and went to some of our old favorite places....The dam, Picwood (movie theatre), ball fields, etc..before heading to the football game!

Here we are at the game....

After the game, we met up with one of our old volleyball helpers, Dave, who we have not even heard from in 10 years!!! It was so good to see him! We went to eat at Colton's to finish off our evening!!
Although I am so happy with my life today, there is nothing like the college days!! So much fun, and not a worry in the world!! I loved my 4 years at Arkansas Tech and the wonderful people I met and memories we made along the way!!! Hope to see you girls again soon!!

It's Official....Hayden's A BIg Boy!!!

Who is this wearing "Big-Boy" underwear????!!!!
Praise Jesus, this child is FINALLY potty-trained!!! Hayden hasn't had any accidents at daycare at all, but as soon as he would come home, he would go #2 in his pull-up or underwear!! We had tried everything!! He would go potty a few times before, but as soon as we thought we were done with pull-ups, he would go hide and mess in his pants! UGH!!! This time, he has gone the whole entire week with no accidents!!! Yay!!!

So, his reward for being potty-trained was to go to Chuck E. Cheese!!! He has been reminding us of that all week!! Even Dad made this momentous occasion!!! We are so proud of you Hayden!!

Hunter's 8th Birthday Party

We had Hunter's 8th birthday party, oh, about 3 weeks ago, and I'm finally posting pictures to my blog! I told you I'm a single mom now. I can't seem to get caught up in any area of my life right now. I should be used to it by now, right?

Hunter wanted his party to be at the Har-Ber football field, and he wanted all of his friends to wear jerseys and play flag football. It turned out to be one of the best parties we have had. We set up a Razorback canopy for our concession stand, and served hotdogs, chips, and sodas. We even had a jug of ring pops on the table.

Hunter sort of designed his cake on his own. He found a cake he liked and made some changes to it. He wanted 8 hogs for all the years of his life. I thought the cake turned out so cute!!
Here are the boys playing football, with Hunter "bossing", I'm sure! :)

The boys racing to eat...
Me and Papa serving up the hot dogs....

Getting ready to blow out the candles...

Hunter has decided he wants to collect all the NFL jerseys. Here are a few that he got for his birthday this year. He also got a USC t-shirt signed by Damian Williams! AWESOME!!

Happy Birthday Hunter!!

Hunter turned 8 years old today!!! I really cannot believe how fast these 8 years have flown by!! I actually get teary-eyed thinking about it. People always tell you to savor every moment because they go so fast, but you don't really believe it until it happens.
Hunter is now in 2nd grade and is having a pretty good school year, although he gets in trouble occasionally for talking. He is advanced in reading and spelling, so we couldn't be prouder of his academics.
He has several friends and has the biggest heart!! A friend of mine told me this story the other day: Her child wanted to play football with all the boys at recess, but one of his best buddies was being mean to him that day and told him he could not play. Hunter said he wanted him to play and wanted him on his team. This boy told his mom he finally just walked away because he didn't want the other boy to give Hunter a hard time, but told his mom that Hunter was a "real friend." How awesome is that?!! To me, that's what it's all about. I know kids can give you fits when you are with them at home, but when they do the right thing when they are away from you, that's what really matters. That story made me sooooo proud!! The funny thing is that Hunter doesn't even remember doing it. It wasn't a big deal to him.

He loves Hayden more than anything!! They are starting to fight ALL THE TIME, but they truly love each other and are pretty much lost when one of them is gone.

This year, he has gone from playing Upwards basketball to Cal Ripken baseball to All-Star baseball to Kiwanis football, and now about to start Sonics basketball. We have had a very busy year athletically. I cannot imagine how I will function when Hayden starts sports also. We love watching him play, and think he's a pretty good athlete. (biased?) If he would put forth some effort, he could be REALLY good! He has a little lazy in him. (not real sure where he gets that from?)
It DRIVES HIM CRAZY when people say he looks like me. He wants to be just like his dad, but the sad thing is, he is SO MUCH like me!! He has blonde hair, blue eyes, and light skin. But he is also a very picky eater, doesn't pick up after himself, and loves to sleep in. There are so many more things, I just can't think of them right now.
We are truly very blessed to have you in our life, Hunter!! You have made our lives so happy and we wouldn't change a thing!! We are so proud of you, and know the lord will do wonderful things through you in the future.
Here are some pix of my "little man" from some of his birthday parties:
1st Birthday Party2 years old!
3 years old! 5 years old!
7 years old!

8th birthday party! (I'll post more party pix later)
As Hunter would sing: "Happy Birthday to you, cha-cha-cha!"
